By the time you read this, I'll probably be in Guizhou, China. I'm suppose to rest by now but there are a few things that I must say before I go.

1) Happy Birthday Cherylene, my cherished vice chairman. I wish you love joy peace patience kindness goodness gentleness perseverence and self-control in all encounters you have in the coming year.

Sec 2 camp: FT speaks

Dear all,

Class bonding is not a term we hang on our lips.
Class bonding does not come naturally, it has to be built purposely.
Class bonding will not happen by waiting for it. And lastly,
If you don't care about class bonding, fine, you can continue to wallow about how nice were your sec 1 days and remain there in a fragment of history. Perhaps it doesn't pay to be nice to ungrateful pupils.

(I'm getting tired of persuading people to come for the camp,
I'm getting tired of encouraging people to do good for a common cause,
I'm getting tired because I'm human too, I also need to be appreciated.)

I want to see every camper take his/her initiative. I will not run ahead of you this time.

don't worry too much about your results alright? seeing so many of you cry makes many of us feel bad and sad but at the end of the day, just work harder for your EOY! :D i'm sure everyone will do really well. ;DDD

anyway, our post for today is to remind you all that there is a farewell party cum birthday party for both mr tang and mr peh. lunch is provided for all so MUST attend. vegetarians don't have to worry as vegetarian food is provided as well.

(don't leave school straight after collecting your report books okay! celebrate for awhile longer!)

next, everyone will be receiving their class tee on tuesday morning and PLEASE make sure you receive it. remember to wear it on the third day of camp, which is also known as the day when we are returning back to school. coz if all of us wear it together, it will somehow look really nice as a class :D also, please inform the rest of the class about both the party and class shirt for camp. thank you all so much.

Hey 2A!!! I hope most of you are satisfied with your results!!!
Even though you might have failed or did badly in your subjects,
its too late to do anything now...
All you have to do is to just start thinking at what you have done the past

If you really tried your best,then you can blame no one...Just try harder the next time!!!
but if you have slacked during the past months and days...then you should blame yourself for not having the self discipline to stop playing and start studying!

Dear all,

A bit too late to post this now. I'm still half hoping you will read this before results come out tomorrow.... whichever way it is, the purpose is to say this before results are out. So here I go...

There are some who did well... indeed very well! I hope you have the confidence to know that I am refering to you because you studied hard for good results. You are the ones who can really have the luxury to say: I will take care of my health and have a good rest during the holidays. You rest so that you can finish the race in style. You will be pleased to hear that most of you are in this category.

There are the middle group. You have satisfactory results but you know some time has been wasted on things that don't really matter. You will have to reflect on how to better make use of your time. This group also includes a few who have subject blindspots: you are good in all except one subject. You should use the holidays to overcome your inconfidence in the subject.

Finally, some did badly. I will not state the obvious things that other people will say.

Listen to this: Don't suffer alone, you have friends who can help you, teachers who are good enough to coach you and last of all... (yea, last of all... you know what I mean.)

As a class, you have exceeded my expectation. Well done.

Hey... I am Sok Kuan And Edmund here... Gonna post about our leadership training at Sarimbun scout camp.. XDXD.. The training is very INTERESTING.. !! We are super sure that you will definitely enjoy when you all come on 20-22 May 2008 . (:

When we were taking the bus to Saribum scout camp at Lim Chu Kang... We were very tired already as the trip to there was very LONG!!! (IT TAKES 45MINUTES!! But you can talk, haha!)

We saw the flying fox thing.. WOW!! very high? You go there and you will know. :) Next post, you will see the picture on it.. You all got watch showdown? We saw the slide.. woohoo... (: WILL SEE LATER... (: I will also post the picture of the toilet and the place you all gonna sleep and PLAY! XD

WE came here to have our training on how to be a belayer.. (: NOT EASY HOR.. pity us.. hahas... At first we go to the place where we play flying fox, we then went to a shelter to practise how to be a belayer team.. it consists of 5 team members.. And it consists of climber, ankleman, belayer, spotter and rope manager.. (:

The climber and the belayer need to wear harness and helmet for safety purposes. BE SAFE THAN SORRY!! XDXD The trainer brief us on the safety precautions, we practise on how to let a person go up and down SAFELY.. We take turns to do the procedures on how to do it correctly. :0

Lucky today Prasana and gang not at FRC, otherwise she'll laugh until flip over... maybe the whole 2A will flip over. Poor pledge taker... must be memorizing from study notes and blurted out accidentally. Amanda, Nicole Tan and Afrina, you are appreciated, it is indeed not as easy as it seems.

Incident 2)
I should call it coincidence: two pairs of teachers came with exactly the same dressing. Miss Jolene Lim and Miss Kassandra Lim both wore white polka dots black blouse with exactly the same design. We teachers made them post together for photo session. I shall see if I can post one up here. At press time I'm still trying to beg for it.

Mid year exam: Diary of an Invigilator

Dear Diary,

We've passed the halfway point of the exams. 2A is getting used to my style as much as I'm getting used to 2A.

I like the buzzing before and after the paper

I like the sincere wishes for one another before the paper

I'm glad nobody give negative talk before the paper starts

I don't have much to say except I confiscated a handphone today. Maybe it is a casual thought, maybe it is a delibrate test of the invigilator but the consequences are dreadful. Hopefully this is just a careless/forgetful act.

Oh yes, someone said I was not giving mercy... well, I have to admit there isn't much room for mercy in the exam context.

The major part of the exam is over by now but for the exam setter/invigilator/FT, tomorrow IS the big day.

Mid Year Exams: Diary of an Invigilator.

Dear Diary,

Science is not easy to invigilate. From a pupils' perspective, 30 MCQs can pose a big temptation, both intentional and unintentional. I have been a student once you know.

My worry for any 2 hour paper is when people go horizontal. Worry in two ways:

1) Lack of exam stamina, too tired to carry on
2) Study too little to attempt all the questions

Both will result in sleeping during exam. Point 2 should come to pupils as a motivation to study. It is embarassing and agonizing to have plenty of time but no questions to do. Finishing the paper and have nothing to do is one thing... I'm referring to not having enough knowledge to even attempt the questions. May such disaster never ever befall on my students.

The sound of correction tape has died down a little... have my candidates learned their lesson? or is it merely change of brand to the "silent type" correction tape (worse, liquid paper...) maybe by third exam day, the tapes have finished. No, I'm not here to remind my pupils to replenish their stock and irritate me again during Literature paper. Seriously, it is my earnest wish that my candidates be very sure before putting things down in writing. This is a very valuable personal discipline, like neatness, cleanliness, courtesy.... frequent correction or change of views is a sign of weakness if taken too lightly. So while it does not affect any marks, making a habit out of this is not going to make one successful.

We shall see how it goes in tomorrow's paper.

Mid-year exam: diary of an invigilator.

Dear Diary,

To start off, how often do you get an absentee during exam? Two days in a row? Anyway, please take good care of yourselves. Really not a time to fall sick having been so consistent for the rest of the year.

There are two papers today, First Math paper 1 and next History. It was good that the OM was allowed to open the classroom early. It was even better when she took the broom and sweep the classroom on her own initiative. Good start.

As the class streamed in, instruction was given to put their belongings in front. Then it happened, it sounded like breaking of glass and when I looked, someone's water bottle broke. Water spilled to the person in front. That was one litre of water I heard someone commented. Sent the Victim out to "help herself". She returned with toilet paper... not quite enough. Hero desperately needed... hero responded! Came back with a mop. Guilty helped Victim mop, Invigilator couldn't bear to stand and watch, took the mop and mop anyhow, ask Victim to bear with it a little while.
(Here comes the best part)

Hero raised hand (now what??)
"Mr Gan, I have no paper." *fainted*

Invigilate.... circulate point to point... look at questions... look at answers... feeling mighty good to be invigilating... you should try this next time lol. Took some blutack off the wall and knead into a duck. Left it with OM (thanks for sweeping the class).

Next, History. Had problem writing on the board with all the bags getting in the way. Next time please leave a space in the middle (alternatively I can use those bags as my footstool... step on them to reach higher. heehee)

I sometimes wonder how could you spend so much time writing something that you don't want and spend equal amount of time deleting them.

You know who you are... next time think and organise in your mind before writing. Spend your time wisely.

At the very least, I hope you see the logic behind banning correction fluid nothing is mentioned about correction tape but I think the same rule applies. Your attitude should be that of carefully and purposefully writing all your answers. Rushing leads to wrong and untidy answers together with poor handwriting. I mean, no point writing so much if the handwriting cannot be read in the first place.
